Bengaluru: High drama prevailed at Whitefield railway station on Tuesday noon when a mentally unstable person climbed on a railway engine and fell down due to electric shock.

The incident took place when the man, aged around 30 years, went on the top of the engine of the Kakinada Express that had arrived around 12 noon. By the time people asked him to get down, he got thrown away as he had come in contact with an electric wire.

The station master, who learnt about the incident, promptly directed his staff to turn off the power for a while.“The passersby took him to Vydehi hospital, where he was treated as out patient. He has not sustained any major injury in the incident. When we questioned him, he did not tell his name nor any other details. Later, we came to know from the railway staff that he is mentally unstable and used to roam around the railway platforms,” the police said. Charred body found in suitcase
Unidentified assailants murdered a woman and later bundled the body into a suitcase and set it on fire near Hunsur in Bagalur police station limits.

The police are yet to establish the identity of the woman, aged between 18 and 25 years. Police said the incident came to light on Tuesday morning around 8 am, when passersby noticed the body in a vacant site and alerted the police.

“It is suspected that the assailants murdered the woman elsewhere and bundled the body into a suitcase. Later, they have brought it to this vacant spot and set the suitcase on fire. The body was burnt 90 per cent and beyond recognition. We have sent the body for post mortem and are going through the details of missing persons to establish her identity. It appears she was a college student,” the police said.

The police are suspecting that the incident had taken place between 8 pm and 9 pm on Monday. “There is a shop close to the spot and it was closed by 8 pm. From 9 pm to early morning, it was raining in the area. So, we suspect the assailants came here and set the suitcase on fire around 8.30 pm,” the police added.
