Kengeri shocker: Woman's body found in cupboard

The tenants were reportedly not seen for the past two months and their whereabouts was not known.

BENGALURU: Kengeri police on Sunday found a highly decomposed body of a woman stuffed inside a cupboard at a rented house in Gandhinagar in Kengeri Satellite Town.

The cupboard was plastered with cement and painted with red colour to make it appear as a wall. The police have recovered the body and sent it for a post-mortem to identify the deceased.

The tenants were reportedly not seen for the past two months and their whereabouts was not known.

On Sunday evening, the house owner, Naveen, who had rented the ground floor of the building to one Sanjay (21), a real estate agent, went to check, as the rental agreement ended on April. Moreover the tenants were not seen since February and had not paid the rent, which had aroused Naveen's curiosity.

"Once I entered the house I saw something unusual. The cupboard was plastered and permanently closed. Sensing something fishy, I called up the police," Naveen said. "Sanjay was staying with his mother and grandmother," he added.

Upon receiving the information, Kengeri police rushed to the spot and hammered down the plastered wall only to find a decomposed body inside. "We suspect it to be of Sanjay's grandmother. The body was kept inside the cupboard and it was plastered to block the foul smell emanating from the decomposed body. The investigation is in the preliminary stage and all we know is that the tenants were from Shivamogga," the police said.

The police, however, suspect that Sanjay may have killed his grandmother two months ago and left. A manhunt has been launched to nab him, they said.
