Hyderabad: Depressed at her mother working as a domestic help a 19-year-old woman working as a domestic help in Tollywood director Kodandarami Reddy’s residence in Jubilee Hills committed suicide. Police said Jayasree hanged herself in her quarter.
The incident occurred on Friday. Police said that Jayasree, hailing from West Godavari district, was working as a domestic help at the director’s residence since a year. Twenty days ago she went home on vacation and returned to work. Meanwhile, another woman A. Lakshmi joined as a domestic help in the same house.
When Jayasree returned her mother Nagamani came with her to Hyderabad and joined as a domestic help at a house in Jubilee Hills. This disturbed Jayasree and she told Lakshmi that she did not like her mother working as a domestic help. But Lakshmi told her that there was nothing wrong in working as a domestic help.
On Friday morning Jayasree finished her work and went to her quarter to have bath. When she did not return Lakshmi and another woman named Venkatamma went to the quarter to check on her, but there was no response when they knocked on the door. Lakshmi grew suspicious and looked inside through the door and saw Jayasree hanging from the ceiling. They informed watchman Bahadur.
He broke open the door and brought Jayasree down. A doctor staying in the next house checked her and informed them that she was dead, and they alerted the police.
Based on a complaint from Lakshmi, Jubilee Hills police registered a suspicious death case and handed over her body to relatives after post-mortem.
