Youth arrested for rape in Kerala
Kochi: A youth was arrested on Saturday for allegedly raping a seven-year-old girl in Aluva when she came to his house while the family members had gone out. The arrested was identified as Muhammed Ashique (22), a resident of Puthuvalparambu House, Veliyattunadu, West Aluva.
According to cops, the minor girl had gone to the accused's house at noon on March 14, a day before her annual examinations started. “However, there was no one else at the youth's house. He tricked the girl to come to the bedroom saying other members were there. The accused then raped the girl,” said T.B. Vijayan, CI, Aluva.
The incident came out only several days later as the shocked victim revealed nothing to her family. Her parents grew suspicious when the girl refused to attend the examinations, and started waking up at the middle of night on several occasions crying out loud. The girl also showed no interest in foods.
Her worried parents took her to a doctor and later subjected her to counseling upon the doctor's direction. It was during the counseling that she revealed her ordeal. Later, officers of the Special Juvenile Police Unit recorded her statement.
“They handed over the details to us and a case was registered at the Aluva East Police station on Friday. The accused was arrested from Veliyattunadu on Saturday morning and he admitted to the crime during interrogation. He has been charged under Sec 376 IPC,” the officer said.
