Bengaluru: Murder cracked after 3 years, 5 held

His wife, Veena, is the prime accused, while the other arrested are her paramour Raghavendra and his friends, Shekhar, Sanjay and Ganesh.

Bengaluru: The Central police have solved the murder of a financier three years ago, with the arrest of five people, including his second wife. At the time of the financier’s death, the police had registered an unnatural death case due to lack of evidence.

His wife, Veena, is the prime accused, while the other arrested are her paramour Raghavendra and his friends, Shekhar, Sanjay and Ganesh. The financier, Vasu, was found dead at his residence on April 10, 2013.

Veena, who is from Gollahalli, is Vasu’s second wife. The couple, who were staying at Parvathipura, fought often over petty issues and Veena would go to her parent’s house. She became close to Raghavendra, a plumber at Gollahalli, and the two started an affair. She plotted the murder to grab Vasu’s property and to escape from his torture. She discussed her plan with others and they agreed to help her, the police said.

On April 10, 2013, as per their plan, Veena secretly allowed the other accused into the house. They went into Vasu’s bedroom and smothered him to death with a pillow. “We had to register a case of unnatural death as there was no evidence,” the police said.

The police recently received a tipoff from one of Veena’s family members that she was involved in Vasu’s death. The police detained her and subjected her to interrogation when she confessed to the murder. Based on the information given by her, the other four were also arrested, the police said.
