Hyderabad: Quick, wrong' route lands riders in jail
Hyderabad: An attempt by six riders to reach home quickly taking a wrong route landed them in prison. The IX Metropolitan Court at Miyapur convicted the accused drivers and sentenced them to four days simple imprisonment. Magistrate D. Durga Prasad, found them guilty for driving on the wrong route, as it endangered the lives of other commuters. The convicts had worn head gear and carried all vehicle documents.
On Thursday during regular vehicle checking, Bachupally Police intercepted six persons riding in the wrong direction. Instead of riding ahead and taking a u-turn and coming back to reach their homes, they moved to the opposite lane at the crossing before their location and travelled in the wrong direction and entered the colonies. This was done to avoid delay by a few minutes and a few metres, police said.
They were booked under Section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act (driving dangerously) through the e-petty cases application launched by the TS Police recently.
The six were shifted to Cherlapally Central Prison on Saturday.
