Karnataka: Engineering graduate held with leopard skin
Bengaluru: Sleuths of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) have arrested a 22-year-old engineering graduate from Hassan who was caught red-handed trying to sell a leopard skin on Thursday evening.
The accused, Harsha, is a resident of Allur Hobli in Hassan district. He had struck a deal to sell the pelt for Rs 70,000 and had come to Bengaluru on Thursday evening.
Based on a tipoff, the CID officials contacted Harsha, posing as buyers. Harsha asked them to come near Kogilu Cross near Sampigehalli. When he came there with the skin, the officials caught him.
The accused, who had poached the leopard, told the officials that he also has skins of other wild animal and elephant tusks.
He wanted to be a cop
Harsha told his interrogators that he had attended a competitive exam for the post of sub-inspector and was aspiring to become an IAS officer.
