Bengaluru: A 42-year-old security guard was found hanging at his residence in Mahadevapura on Thursday night.The deceased, Ashok Rao (47), a resident of Narayanapura, was working with Parle Agency in Whitefield. A family dispute is suspected to be the reason behind the suicide, the police said. Rao had married Kavitha Bai, a worker in a garment factory, a few years ago and the couple quarrelled regularly, the neighbours have informed the police.
He might have committed suicide on Thursday evening when Kavita had gone out. His mother was at home, when Rao hanged himself in the kitchen using a saree. His mother, who was in another room, did not know that her son had committed suicide till Kavita came back home and saw Rao hanging.
Though Rao has not left any suicide note, preliminary probe revealed that he was depressed for the last few months because of issues in the family. The police shifted the body to Bowring Hospital for the postmortem.
