Hyderabad: Constable's house robbed, Rs 10 lakh stolen
Hyderabad: The house of an Armed Reserve police constable working in Hyderabad was burgled during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday at Meerpet.
The family of the constable found out about the burglary during the early hours when they saw the almirah containing gold and cash broken open. Property worth about Rs 10.3 lakh was stolen.
Police identified the complainant as M. Manohar Reddy, a 40-year-old police constable. According to police, Reddy’s wife Janayitri forgot to latch the kitchen mesh door during the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday. When she woke up on Thursday she found the kitchen door open and the valuables missing.
K. Satyanarayana, detective Inspector of police, Meerpet, said, “According to the complaint, some unidentified offenders gained entry through the house through the kitchen door, came to the bedroom and committed the theft.” Reportedly, a total worth of valuables around Rs 10,30,000 are missing. Speaking to the media, M. Janayitri, wife of Manohar Reddy said, “I woke up in the morning and saw our kitchen door open. When I searched the house I discovered six thulas of gundla mala, one pair of ear tops at 1½ thula, three tulas of hand bracelets, one and a half thulas of nallapusalu thadu, four pairs of small eartops weighing 2½ thulas, a locket weighing one thulas, children’s chains of 2½ thulas, total 16½ thulas of gold and net cash of Rs 7,00,000 missing from the home.”
Commenting on the modus operandi, the police official said, “Usually the robbers choose a house where there are no inmates to burgle. But in this case we find it different. It is too early to come to any conclusion. Based on the complaint we are investigating the case.”
Meerpet cops have registered a case under section 380 IPC and further investigation is underway.
