Bengaluru: A day after a woman and her son fell off the fifth floor of an apartment, the Kadugodi police have arrested District Crime Bureau inspector Chandrappa for abatement of suicide. The police also found a suicide note in which the deceased had stated that they were being mentally harassed by Chandrappa.

Maunesh and Sundaramma had come to the city four days ago and were staying with Chandrappa to help him trace his missing sister. Preliminary investigations revealed that Maunesh, who was already married, had an affair with Chandrappa's sister and eloped with her.

She was tracked down by Chandrappa recently who brought her back and warned her to stay away from Maunesh. Last week when Chandrappa’s sister again went missing and he suspected Maunesh’s involvement and summoned him to his flat in the city.

Around 4:30 am on Tuesday, the two jumped off from his apartment. Maunesh’s wife Sridevi has lodged a complaint with the Kadugodi police.

The Kadugodi police had detained the police inspector Chandrappa on Tuesday and during the search operation in his apartment in Belathur, the police found a suicide note from Maunesh stating that Chandrappa had caused mental torture after his sister went missing and based on this the police have arrested Chandrappa on Wednesday.

The investigating officer said that they are writing a letter to SP Kolar to keep Chandrappa under suspension and to initiate a departmental inquiry. The Kadugodi police have booked him under 306 and 343 and 506 of IPC section (illegal confinement, abetment to suicide and threatening).
