Telangana: Mumbai girl complains of torture by her aunt
Hyderabad: A Class X student hailing from Mumbai who lost her parents in an accident in Mumbai two years ago has complained that an aunt who was looking after her in Bengaluru had harassed her physically, and had tried to exploit her sexually eyeing the property left to her by her parents. With the help of a Facebook friend she escaped from her aunt and came to Hyderabad. The girl filed a complaint with the Human Rights Commission on Tuesday. The girl stated in her petition that after the death of her parents, her mother’s cousin who came to attend the funeral of her parents started taking care of her. She was later taken to her aunt’s house in Bengaluru, where she was tortured and branded with hot knives all over her body.
“One day when I complained to my aunt about a strange boy following me she said he was their relative. The boy later came home and started misbehaving with me. When I complained about this she asked me to do as he tells as they get money from him,” the girl said. She said that her aunt Ashriya had influence with Bengaluru police, and that she did not get any help due to that. “My relatives listened to me but no one helped me. As per the advice of a Facebook friend, I escaped and came to Hyderabad,” she said.
The boy took her to NGOs, and they helped her to file a complaint with the HR commission. The girl said her aunt had planned to kill her to grab her property. “I will become a major in August 2017. Till then I need protection from her and her men. They will do anything to grab my property worth crores,” she said in her complaint.
