Hyderabad: A pseudo cop, who allegedly impersonated as a special branch sub inspector and threatened people using a dummy pistol was nabbed by SR Nagar police. The man, Appala Naidu, a electrician from Prakasam district, chased a couple riding on a bike, entered a hostel and then threatened them with the weapon.
Police said that on Monday, Appala Naidu, who was waiting near the Jalamandali office tried to intercept a couple riding on a bike. But the rider did not stop and dropped the girl at a hostel and left.
Naidu, who followed them, wore the ‘pistol’ on his waist and introduced himself as a special branch SI. He asked the hostel staff to call the girl who just entered the hostel. “When they asked who the girl was he spoke rudely. The staff alerted the police,” said a cop. Police arrested Naidu and seized his dummy weapon and a bike with ‘Police’ written on it.
