Woman, lover arrested for abetting kidnap of her cousin
Hyderabad: Police busted a kidnap case in which a woman got her cousin kidnapped to lead a luxurious life with her lover in Rayadurgam police station limits. For this, she sought the help of a criminal gang, involved in nefarious activities since long, but tried to feign innocence and registered a kidnap case with the police.
However, police investigated the case and arrested the victim’s sister Nikitha, her lover Ballipara Venkatakrishna and three kidnappers. All of them have been sent to remand.
Speaking to mediapersons, Rayadurgam inspector Mahesh, Gacchibowli inspector James Babu, Madhapur ACP Srinivas, DCP Srinivas Rao, additional DCP Narasimha Reddy said that Nikitha, belonging to Macharla, has been working in a company in Gacchibowli.
She got in touch with Venkatakrishna, also working in the same company, and their friendship blossomed into love. Venkatakrishna belonged to Penamaluru in Krishna district. Venkatakrishna is associated with crimes relating to flesh trade and drug trafficking.
During his remand in the jail, Venkatakrishna had got in touch with Gunjapogu Suresh alias Surya, 31, belonging to Attapur, a kidnapper. In the past, Venkatakrishna got his company MD Sivasankara Babu kidnapped with the help of Suresh and received a ransom of Rs 2 lakh.
In December, Suresh approached Venkatakrishna and Nikitha and told them that he needed money and hence, asked them to show any job. Venkatakrishna and Nikitha, who had plans to get married, suggested that he kidnap Nikitha’s cousin Surendra who works as an engineer in a private organization and earns Rs 1 crore a year. His wife is an IT employee who also earns a handsome salary.
Finding no way to kidnap Surendra at his house, Nikitha called him to Khajaguda lake stating that one of his colleagues was harassing her. When he reached the place, suresh and his aides who had already reached the place, kidnapped him and left the place.
Onlookers who observed this, immediately alerted the police dialing 100. When police reached the place, Nikitha admitted that she was witness to the incident and lodged a complaint with the police.
Then the kidnappers demanded Rs 2 crore from Surendra’s wife but when their vehicle reached Kadtal, their car broke down. Venkatakrishna and Nikitha drove a car to Kadthal and handed over the vehicle to the kidnappers and reached home in Hyderabad in a poultry van.
However, the kidnap plan failed when forest officials identified Surendra and one of his aides Rohit in the forest area of Kurnool, during routine vehicle checking.
Based on details revealed by Surendra and other technical evidence, police took Nikitha, Venkatakrishna and other members of Suresh’s gang into custody. Reportedly, Suresh demanded Rs 20 lakh from the victim’s wife.
