HYDERABAD: A woman was killed when a former MNC employee, who was driving in an inebriated condition, hit her at Gachibowli during the early hours on Monday. The speeding car rammed into the wall of a bathroom in which the woman was bathing after sliding on the road divider for about 60 metres, police said.
The victim was identified as Toldi Madhu Bai, 45, a housewife, who lived with her son Santhosh in Gachibowli. After her husband Satwaji’s demise, Santhosh used to work as a daily wage earner while she looked after the household.
At about 6.10 am, Madhu Bai went to take a bath. Meanwhile, a speeding car moving towards Gowlidoddi from Gopanpally village crashed into the road divider in front of a government school. The car did not stop there, but slid almost 60 metres on the median and hit a scooter parked in front of a house. It came to a halt only after hitting the wall of the bathroom.
The wall collapsed and fell on Madhu Bai causing her multiple injuries. Santhosh who was inside the house rushed out to see his mother under the debris. With the help of the local people, she was shifted to Continental Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at 7.58 am.
Madhu Bai’s elder brother Devarshi Jayanand has lodged a complaint with the police stating that the driver of the car was drunk when the accident occured.
Gachibowli inspector R. Srinivas said, “The car driver Mohd Ikram Ali, 26, has been arrested.”
and will be produced before the court under Sections 304 II of IPC, based on a complaint made by the victim’s brother.”
