Telangana: Man hits cop over parking
Hyderabad: A man allegedly abused and assaulted a sub-inspector, who had caught him for parking illegally at Mehdipatnam on Saturday. Syed Anwar Khan, an Airtel agent, also allegedly hit the SI with his car while trying to escape from the spot. He has been arrested and charged with assault to deter a public servant from discharging his duty.
Police said the sub-inspector, Mr P. Venkat-eswaralu, from the Asifnagar police station, was on patrol when he noticed traffic blocked near St Ann’s School. He found that a car parked on the road while the owner had gone inside the school. “I saw a man coming towards the car and asked him why he had parked it on the road. He started arguing with me, asking if I was authorised to intervene in the matter. He then pushed me and abused me,” the sub-inspector said.
Mr Venkateswaralu called local traffic police. Syed Anwar Khan tried to flee and drove his car towards the SI who was hit and fell down. He sustained minor injuries. “An assistant sub-inspector who was passing came to my rescue and ensured that the man did not escape,” said the sub-inspector. Khan was taken to the police station and charged. He is a resident of Humayunnagar and runs an Airtel agency in Abids.
