HM suspended for TC fraud
Alappuzha: The headmaster of the government girls’ higher secondary school at Cherthala, who allegedly committed fraud to help avoid division fall in an aided school, has been suspended.
The accused HM, K.V. Peter, had colluded with the authorities of the Sree Narayana Higher Secondary School, Sreekandaswaram, Poochackal, 15 km from Cherthala, and issued bogus transfer certificates in the name of seven class IX students of his school for monetary gain. The incident happened on June 8, 2016.
The students who were unaware of the fraud continued to study in the same school although on record they were students of SNHSS.
The suspension order was issued by the director of public instruction on Thursday based on the report submitted by the district education officer, Cherthala. The DPI order available with DC says the DEO had conducted a probe into the incident on July 8 last year and verified the charges.
Deccan Chronicle had exposed the misappropriation of the funds collected by the same headmaster by selling lucky draw coupons using students in July last year. The case is pending in the High Court.
Following the DC report on the coupon scam published on August 14 last year, the DEO who investigated it had found misappropriation of funds.
The school management had sold 5,520 coupons by sending students to nearby shops and residents and collected a total of Rs 2,76,000. However, only Rs 19,250 was disbursed so far.
