Andhra Pradesh: ACB cops raid employment, training wing joint director
VIJAYAWADA: A joint director of the employment and training department was caught by the Anti Corruption Bureau on Saturday. ACB sleuths raided the houses of Gopuram Muni Venkata Narayana after receiving credible information, and found disproportionate assets worth Rs 6.07 crore. Simultaneous raids were conducted at 10 places including bank lockers and houses belonging to Venkata Narayana and his family and relatives at Vijayawada, Hyderabad and Tirupati.
Venkata Narayana is now working as head of the employment and training wing under the commissioner of labour and employment. He started his career as a group instructor in ITI Chittoor and moved up to joint director rank over the years. During the searches ACB officials found records of four house sites in Tirupati, three house sites in Hyderabad worth Rs 62.5 lakh, farmland at Rajampeta and Tirupati worth Rs 11 lakh, seven residential flats worth Rs 1.54 crore in Hyderabad and four shops worth Rs 10 lakh at LB Nagar.
The Anti Corruption Bureau sleuths also found Rs 26.05 lakh in Rs 2,000 denomination notes and nearly 1.5 kg gold and 3.5 kg silver at his and in three other bank lockers. Venkat Narayana was also found having LIC policies worth Rs 4.3 lakh and 105 promissory notes worth Rs 2.65 crore and 3 vehicles worth Rs 4.5 lakh. The accused officer was arrested by the Anti Corruption Bureau and produced in court.The case is being investigated.
