Tirumala devotee kills wife, brother-in-law in Tirupati hotel

Tirupati: A devotee from Maharashtra on pilgrimage to Tirumala allegedly killed his wife and brother-in-law while staying in a private hotel at Tirupati on Friday.

Police have identified the accused as Narvadi Yuvaraj, a resident of Nanded district. He had arrived in Tirupati on Thursday with his wife Manisha (25), their two children aged six years and four years, and his brother-in-law N. Harshavardhan (27). The family had come to seek the blessings of Lord Venkateswara and had checked into a private hotel near Kapila Theertham.

According to Alipiri division circle inspector T. Abbanna, around 2 a.m. on Friday, Yuvaraj allegedly stabbed his wife and brother-in-law. Hotel staff saw him leaving the hotel with blood stains on his clothes. They immediately informed police.

CI Abbanna and a team of police officers rushed to the hotel. They took statements from witnesses and collected evidence. Initial reports suggest financial issues and family discord as possible reasons for the double murder.

Police have shifted the bodies for post-mortem. They are on the lookout for Yuvaraj.
