Hyderabad: The Special Court for Pocso Act cases in Medchal convicted one G. Mahipal Reddy, 48, of Kothapally mandal of Vikarabad district to 20 years jail and a fine of Rs 50,000 for raping a minor girl in 2020.
Jagathgirigutta inspector Kranti Kumar said the Mahipal Reddy had gone to his sister’s house where he saw the girl playing with her friends on the street. Knowing that her parents were not at home, he lured her with chocolates and assaulted her. Her parents returned just then, found her missing and launched search for her.
They found Mahipal Reddy assaulting her, beat him up and handed him over to the police. The police arrested him and started investigations.
