Two nabbed with 1.3 tonnes of ganja, racket busted

HYDERABAD: The Hayathnagar police busted a ganja smuggling racket operating between Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh and arrested two persons, Narendra Harijan and Chandresh Saketh of Madhya Pradesh. Police seized 1.3 tonnes of ganja from the duo and the vehicle used for transportation, all worth over Rs 2.8 crore. They had concealed small packets of ganja in a load of broken rice, the police said.

Supplier Penta Rao from Andhra Pradesh and receiver Rajesh Kumar at Chhattisgarh are absconding, said Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat. “A hunt is on to nab them,” he added.

Police said Narendra Harijan had earlier worked as a goods vehicle driver to Chhattisgarh. He got acquainted with Rajesh, who was already in the ganja business. Rajesh offered Narendra a commissioner to transport ganja for him, police said.
