Hyderabad: 6-year-old girl brutally beaten up by mother's lover
Hyderabad: A six-year-old girl was beaten and branded by her mother’s lover for refusing to attend school. She suffered injuries to her back, hands, buttocks and neck. A case has been booked against her tormentor.
According to the police, Anasuya, 24, a daily wage labourer, had lost her husband in an accident over a year. Since then, her older daughter had been living with her parents, while the younger one had been living with her.
Anasuya had developed a relationship with Praveen Kumar, 23 , a centring worker, and had been living with him at a rented house in the Tukaramgate area, along with her child.
Since the past few days, the girl had been refusing to go to school despite her mother and Praveen’s insistence. This had made Praveen extremely angry, leading to his beating her with a stick. He also branded her on multiple parts of her body.
A case has been registered against him under Section 77 of the Juvenile Justice Act for voluntarily causing hurt to a child through the use of dangerous weapons.
G. Ramesh, Inspector of Tukaramgate police station, said, “The girl is being sent for medical examination and Praveen Kumar has been taken into custody for questioning.”
