Rajahmundry: Women fight over illicit relationship

At the time of the assault, the husbands of both the women were present.

Rajahmundry: A married woman splashed hot tea on the face of another married woman and chopped off her hair with a sickle on the suspicion that the latter was having an illicit affair with her husband at Pulimeru village of Peddapuram mandal in East Godavari on Tuesday.

According to Peddapuram police, Rapa Priyanka, hailing from Pulimeru of Peddapuram mandal, was married to Suribabu and she suspected that her husband was having an affair with another married woman, identified as Daki Chilakamma, also a resident of Pulimeru.

On Tuesday, Priyanka along with M. Venkata Lakshmi, M. Abbulu and M. Satyavathi, went to Chilakamma’s house and entered into a heated argument with her, alleging that she was having an affair with her husband.

In a fit of rage, she took the tea vessel kept on the stove and splashed it on Chilakamma’s face causing minor injuries. Later, they beat her up, chopped off her hair with a sickle and warned her to discontinue the relationship. At the time of the assault, the husbands of both the women were present.

Based on a complaint from Chilakamma, the police booked a case against Priyanka and three others under sections 448, 324 and 354 read with 34 of IPC. The case is under investigation.
