Rajahmundry: A man killed his uncle suspecting him of having an illicit relationship with his wife at Chinnimpeta of Yeleswaram mandal in East Godavari on Tuesday.

According to Yeleswaram police, Lanka Vijaya Rao married Bhavani a few years ago and the couple have two daughters. Rao suspected his wife of having an affair with his uncle Lanka Tata Rao, 47 who stayed next door. Rao was a liquor addict and the couple used to fight frequently.

On Tuesday, Vijaya Rao and his wife were having an argument. In a fit of rage, Vijaya Rao used a clamp, used to fasten his tractor to a trolley and hit Bhavani leaving her with severe injuries.

As she was screaming for help, Tata Rao rushed to her rescue and asked Vijaya Rao why he was beating up his wife. Enraged at his intervention, Vijaya Rao abused him and tried to attack him and hit him also with the clamp, causing severe injury. When Tata Rao’s family members confronted Vijaya Rao, he threatened to kill them also.

Villagers shifted Bhavani and Tata Rao to the government hospital. Doctors declared Tata Rao as brought dead and shifted Bhavani to government hospital, Kakinada for medical care. Police booked a case against Vijaya Rao under Sections 302 and 307 of the IPC.
