Warangal: Three persons were killed and one person was severely injured after a man set his father and paramour on fire, leading to a gas cylinder exploding, in Kantatmakur village in Damera mandal of Warangal rural district on Sunday night.
According to the police, Mamidi Karthik, a daily wage worker and a resident of Gudibandal in Hanamkonda of Warangal urban district was not happy that his father Mamidi Kumaraswamy, 48, was in a relationship with Potharaju Sumalatha, 38. The father and son frequently had fights regarding this.
On Sunday, Karthik came to know his father has taken Sumalatha to his grandparent’s place. He went to their house along with his friends carrying bottles of petrol. They got into a quarrel inside the house again. Karthik doused his father and Sumalatha with petrol and set them on fire. As a result, the belongings inside the house caught fire, which led to the gas cylinder catching fire and eventually exploding.
Kumaraswamy’s mother Mamidi Rajamma, 70, was also injured in the fire. His father, Mamidi Pedda Lingaiah, sustained burn injuries and is receiving treatment at the MGM hospital in Warangal. Based on a complaint by Kumaraswamy’s sister the police registered a case.
