Hyderabad: Six killed in road mishap
Hyderabad: Six persons, who were returning home from a weekly vegetable market, were killed and seven others, including two toddlers, were injured in an accident in Mahabubnagar district on the Hyderabad-Raichur Highway on Sunday evening.
The police said that the accident occurred when the auto rickshaw in which they were travelling rammed into a lorry coming in the opposite direction while trying to avoid hitting a goat which suddenly came on the road.
The passengers had gone to the weekly market in Makthal. After purchasing vegetables, around 13 passengers, including children, were on their way in the autorickshaw.
The auto driver, Kumraiah, suddenly noticed a sheep running onto the road and tried to save it. “But he did not notice a loaded lorry coming in the opposite direction. The auto collided with the lorry and four persons were killed on the spot, while two others succumbed to their injuries while being shifted to a hospital,” the Mahabubnagar police said.
