Hyderabad: Hyderabad police commissioner Anjani Kumar, suspended a  sub-inspector for allegedly demanding a bribe on Friday.

The action was taken after the victim, Santhosh Kumar approached the Anti-Corruption Bureau. Based on the ACB report, sub-inspector Venkatadri was suspended.

Mr Kumar of Namalagundu of Secunderabad, approached Chilkalguda police station on May 17 stating that his two-wheeler was stolen. After filing the case, the police recovered the two-wheeler 20 days later at Kompally and informed the same to the owner. However, Mr Kumar withdrew the case saying the person who stole the vehicle was his relative.

Nonetheless, S-I Venkatadri made it clear that it was not possible and a case would be filed against the thief. He demanded a bribe to hand over the two-wheeler.

After receiving the complaint, ACB officials issued notices under the Section 41 CrPC to Venkatadri and constable Rajesh. During enquiry, it was found that Venkatadri had accepted the bribe. Following the report, he was suspended from duty the police sources said.
