Visakhapatnam: Newly-married banker ends life

She committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan in her house.

Visakhapatnam: A newly-married woman, who is an officer in the State Bank of India (SBI), committed suicide by hanging herself to the ceiling fan in her house at Marripalem Vuda layout under the airport police station limits in the city on Wednesday night. The victim was identified as Ch. Ganga Bhavani, 29, an assistant general manager in the bank branch at NAD Kotharoad branch in Vizag city. Her husband works in Tirupati in LIC as a development officer. Bhavani was alone in Vizag city and the police are yet to ascertain the reason behind the extreme step. Inspector of airport police station N. Prabhakar said they didn't recover any suicide letter at the place and that they were suspecting personal reasons behind the suicide.

A native of Kakinada in East Godavari district, Bhavani worked as the AGM (recovery officer) in SBI. She was married to Ch. Pavan Kumar on April 12, 2017 and they lived separately for the sake of jobs. Recently, the couple went to Kerala on a joy trip and Pavan Kumar left for Tirupati to join duty.

On Wednesday, Bhavani came home for lunch and never returned back to the bank. A few of her colleagues called her up and when there was no response, they went to the house only to find her hanging to the ceiling fan. Police said that preliminary investigation revealed there were no dispute between the couple. Even her parents do not have any doubt over Bhavani's husband or his parents.

However, they are checking the identity of the person who had called her minutes before she took the extreme step. The police registered a case of suspicious death under Section 174 of CrPC and are investigating the case in all angles speaking to her colleagues, friends and relatives. The body was sent to King George Hospital for post-mortem.
