Hyderabad: Teenager arrested for sexually assaulting and murdering minor

Based on CCTV footages, police apprehended the teenager.

Hyderabad: The decomposed body of an 11-year-old boy who went missing from home a week back in Chandrayangutta was found on the terrace of a government school building on Wednesday night. Police said a 16-year-old lured the boy offering to buy him toffees and biscuits and took him to the terrace and sexually assaulted him. When the boy threatened to complain to his parents, the teenager killed the boy and dumped the body on the terrace. Based on CCTV footages, police apprehended the teenager.

According to police, the victim was the sixth child to his father who is an auto driver residing in Barkas under Chandrayangutta police station limits and studying in Class V in a nearby private school. On June 28, after having lunch, the boy went out to play in the Barkas playground near his house. When he did not return home till late in the evening, his parents searched for him in the surroundings and lodged a complaint with Chandrayanagutta police station. A missing case was registered.

Police questioned the boy's friends while also analysing recordings from over 100 CCTVs in the locality for any clues. The report of the missing boy went viral on social media and a person from Mumbai called up the police saying that he spotted the boy. Police, however, confirmed that the boy being referred to was not the same, after seeing pictures that the person sent on WhatsApp. On Wednesday evening, police found a CCTV footage showing the boy moving with a teenager. The camera was installed at Bade Masjid. Police, on the basis of the shirt he was wearing, located the teenager who was was found to be a neighbour of the victim and was working at a paan shop. He was apprehended and on questioning admitted that he killed the boy.

“He saw the boy in the ground and lured him with toffees and biscuits and took him to the Government Urdu Medium School and assaulted him there. When the boy threatened to inform his parents, he first hit the boy on his back with an iron pipe and then on the head and banged the boy to the parapet wall of the terrace,” said the DCP, adding that after killing, the teenager dumped the body behind the water tank. Police altered the missing case with charges of rape, murder, kidnap, unnatural sex and concealing the evidence and under Protection of Children from Sexual offences act.
