Andhra Pradesh: 4 booked for rape of Sikkim woman

A 35-year-old Sikkimese woman was allegedly gang-raped at her home near Bhanojithota area.

Visakhapatnam: A 35-year-old Sikkimese woman was allegedly gang-raped at her home near Bhanojithota area under Gajuwaka police station limits in Vizag city. The incident took place on Monday evening but came to light on Tuesday night when the victim along with her husband has lodged a police complaint. Sources in police said that the four accused, including a minor boy were caught from different places on Wednesday evening for interrogation. Inspe-ctor of Gajuwaka, T. Immanuel Raju said the victim, her husband and three children were staying at Gajuwaka area for the past few years.

Four youngsters, including a minor boy of Gajuwaka entered her house on Monday evening when her husband was away from home. The victim in her complaint mentioned that she was threatened by the four member gang and she was raped by two members in front of her children. The gang also threatened the woman with dire consequences if she revealed the matter to anyone and they also snatched away Rs 500 from her.

“Our preliminary investigation has revealed that the gang committed the crime and the accused have been booked under Section 376 (Rape) of IPC. We have nabbed some members of the gang and investigation is on,” said Immanuel Raju.
