Mico Layout rape: Three arrested by Karnataka police
Bengaluru: The South East division police have arrested three people in connection with the rape of a 27-year-old woman on June 26. The incident took place at an under construction site in Mico Layout police station limits. The accused were known to the victim they allegedly threatened her at knife point and raped her.
The accused have been identified as Syed Zakir, Abdul Zakir and Krishna alias Kumar, who works at a granite factory as daily wagers. They were remanded to judicial custody, the police said.
According to the police, the prime accused, Syed Zakir, was a friend of the victim. He raped her while the two others did not commit the crime, but supported it.
The victim stated in her complaint that the incident happened while she was walking towards her home after visiting her friends in BTM Layout. The trio approached her and threatened her with a knife.
She was then taken to an under-construction site and raped by Zakir. Both the victim and accused were sent for medical examinations and further investigations are underway.
The victim was allegedly threatened by the accused against lodging a complaint and hence there was a delay of 10 days in registering the complaint, she told police. The woman was married and later got separated. She was living alone in Mico Layout, the police said.
