Chennai: Audi driver bail plea to be heard again on July 13
Chennai: The Audi driver Ayshwarya Wilton, arrested for causing an accident that killed a carpenter on Friday, filed a bail petition before the Principal Sessions court on Wednesday, a day after Madras High court directed her to approach trial court with the plea.
In the bail petition, she stated she was innocent and police foisted case against her. She alleged that even though she was not under the influence of alcohol due to the pressure of media around 2.30 am on Friday, a FIR was registered for offences committed under section 185 of Motor Vehicle Act and under section 279 and 304 (ii) of IPC. She said "when her father pointed out that she was not under the influence of alcohol, the inspector stated that after getting blood test reports the alteration could be done".
Ayshwarya, a computer engineer, was working as a senior software engineer since 2011 and won many awards. She was a member of Handel Manuel Chorus group and participated in programmes for raising funds for CMC patients recently and worked for the welfare of senior citizens. Stating that the police foisted the case against her, Ayshwarya said, she not had committed the offence.
Ayshwarya said “Without conducting proper enquiry the police falsely implicated me". She sought bail from the court. When the matter came up for hearing, City Public Prosecutor, M.L. Jagan submitted that in the preliminary enquiry she was found in an inebriated condition soon after the accident. The blood alcohol content (BAC) was registered at 36 per cent. He said besides this police have not received results of lab reports". Hence, he sought more time from the court to file reply. The Judge posted that matter to July 13 for further hearing. On Tuesday, disposing her bail petition, the Madras High court directed her to approach trial court for trial.
