Hyderabad: Cops nab 3 for robbing bikes

The suspects reportedly beat him up with sticks and stones, robbed his bike, and fled from the scene before the locals could come to his rescue.

Hyderabad: A system operator from the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and two of his aides were arrested for robbery and aggravated assault by Chaitanyapuri police on Thursday. The fourth accused, G. Nagaraju, is absconding, and the police are on the job to nab him at the earliest.

Around 12.40 am on April 26, one K. Upender, a resident of Uppal, was on his way back home from Kothapet when a group of four persons travelling on two bikes waylaid him in Margadarshi Colony.

The suspects reportedly beat him up with sticks and stones, robbed his bike, and fled from the scene before the locals could come to his rescue. However, they ended up leaving one of their bikes (TS07FV7408) behind. Based on the complaint filed by the victim Upender, a case was registered by Chaitanyapuri police for the probe.

The Chaitanyapuri police station crime team on Thursday morning caught three persons — Mohd Asif (26) and D. Naveen Reddy (25) of Kothapet, and Shaik Shakeel (26) of Hayathnagar — near Telephone Colony, and recovered three bikes from them. Chaitanyapuri inspector S. Sudershan said that Asif was working as a system operator with the GHMC while Shakeel was a car driver and Naveen ran a hotel. “The accused were addicted to bad vices and resorted to the offence to meet their expenses,” he explained.
