Chennai: Rowdy, 4 others held for murder
Chennai: City police arrested ‘rowdy’ Arcot Suresh and 4 others on Wednesday for allegedly murdering a 63-year-old father of a lawyer. The arrested were identified as Arcot Suresh alias V. Suresh (41) of Vellore, Gubi alias Guberan (29) of Pattalam, Ravi (32) of Thirumullaivoyal, Sathya alias Senguttuvan (36) and Rajesh (36) of Narasimha Nagar in Basin Bridge.
According to police, Guberan has 9 cases including history-sheeter Chinna alias Chennakesavalu’s murder case against him. Ravi has a petty case while Rajesh was also involved in Chinna’s murder. Rajesh is Suresh’s car driver. Senguttuvan is a contract killer, police said.
The arrest was folllowing the murder of
D. Radha (63) of Thiru.Vi.Ka Nagar in Pulianthope on Tuesday early morning. Radha was an accomplice of Chinna, who was reportedly murdered by Arcot Suresh in 2010.
Radha’s son Sampath is a lawyer, police said.
“Although Suresh is from Vellore, he used to stay at his relative’s house in Narasimha Nagar. There was a fight between Chennakesavalu and Suresh to establish supremacy in the area and this culminated in the elimination of the former.
After Chinna’s death, his gang was silent,” police said.
Police also added that Suresh and his gang feared retaliation from Chinna’s accomplices and thought that Radha was helping them with information. “A day before the murder, Ezhil, a relative of Suresh was reported to have been attacked by Chinna’s gang. He did not file a police complaint, but Indira, Chinna’s daughter filed a complaint against Ezhil. Thinking that Radha was behind this, Suresh allegedly hatched a plan to kill him,” police said.
All the arrested 5 persons were sent to judicial remand.
