Hyderabad: Task force apprehend a bookie
Hyderabad: The West Zone Task Force apprehended a bookie in the act of accepting cricket betting from known and unknown punters over cell phones in the limits of SR Nagar Police Station. Officials seized one T.V, two line phones and Rs 80,300 from the accused, M. Ravi, 34, a cricket bookie.
“He hatched a plan to organise cricket betting and to collect the amount directly and indirectly through cell phones from punters in Hyderabad. He has been organising the betting for a year and was collecting and distributing the betting money from nearly 25 to 30 punters in the twin cities,” said the DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force, P. Radhakrishna Rao.
The Task Force team apprehended him on Saturday, while Ravi was running the racket at Sanjay Nagar of Borabanda for the ongoing IPL-2018 Cricket Match between Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore at Pune.
