Bengaluru: Congress corporator campaigns for JD(S) candidate, attacked
Bengaluru: RMC Yard police have arrested a gang of 13 bouncers from a slum in Ashraya Nagar on Sunday for allegedly threatening
BBMP Corporator Asha Suresh while she was campaigning in the area. Asha, a Congress corporator from HMT Ward, shares a bitter relationship with RR Nagar Congress MLA Muniratna and thus was seeking votes for the JD(S) candidate Ramachandra.
On Sunday, while Asha was campaigning in Ashraya Nagar slum on behalf of the JD(S) candidate and addressing a public gathering, a gang of over 20 bouncers sitting in front of an Indira Canteen allegedly disrupted the meeting.
“As I was addressing the gathering, the bouncers began disrupting the meeting. When questioned, they started hurling abuses. This led to a tiff between JDS workers and the bouncers. Later they threatened me. People locked them up in the Indira Canteen itself and the police later arrested them,” Asha said.
A case has been booked against the bouncers and investigation is underway.
