Man hires killers, eliminates sister for property in Kanigiri

Srinivasulu had been trying to force his sister Oleti Sushila, to relieve him of his debt burden, said police

Tirupati: Prakasam police have arrested a 49-year-old man for killing his sister with the help of contract killers for acquiring her property.

District SP Malika Garg told media on Friday that K. Srinivasulu, a resident of Kanigiri, had been into real estate and milk business. His three marriages had failed and he had incurred losses of ₹50 lakh in his business.

Srinivasulu had been trying to force his sister Oleti Sushila, (43), a resident of Kothapeta in Kanigiri town, to relieve him of his debt burden. Sushila had married her maternal uncle but divorced him owing to disagreements. She had been living in Kanigiri along with her parents for past seven years. Her mother had transferred all her properties in the name of Sushila.

"When Sushila refused to meet Srinivasulu’s demand, he decided to eliminate her, so that he could inherit the properties. For the purpose, he contacted Mohammad Kareemulla (42) of Vijayawada and B. Lalitha (36) of Kanigiri town around three months ago. He promised them ₹10 lakh for the murder. He paid them an advance of ₹1,10,000,” Malika Garg explained.

She said Kareemulla and a juvenile came to Sushila’s residence on Tuesday, April 4, seeking to rent accommodation. When she appeared, they stabbed her with knives and hit her with a hammer killing her on the spot.

The duo thereafter went to their accomplice Lalitha’s house, waiting for Srinivasulu to get the balance amount. When he did not turn up, they left the town the same night,” the SP said.

Following a complaint lodged by the victim’s parents, police formed special teams. With the help of technical leads, they took Kareemulla and the juvenile into custody near the Tobacco Board office on Podili–Kanigiri Road and interrogated them. The juvenile’s confession led to the arrest of conspirators Srinivasulu and Lalitha.
