Telangana: Rs 10,000 reward offered for 2 chain-snatchers
Hyderabad: Help catch chain-snatchers and win Rs 10,000. The Cyberabad police announced a cash award of Rs 10,000 on Thursday for anyone who can provide clues about the chain-snatchers who robbed two women at Kukatpally on Tuesday. The bike-borne snatchers robbed the women in two different areas in less than half an hour. Police released CCTV footages of the suspects.
Kukatpally ACP N. Bhujanga Rao said the snatchers who were riding a Honda Shine bike robbed eight tola gold ornaments from the two elderly women in KPHB and Kukatpally. In the first incident at 9.10 am in KPHB VII phase, a 72-year-old woman was robbed as she was walking alone on the road. The snatchers approached her on a bike from behind and grabbed her six tola gold chain. At 9.35 am, they robbed another woman in Anjaneyanagar in Kukatpally. After the Kukatpally incident a milk vendor chased the snatchers but they managed to escape.
Their movements were captured in 12 CCTV cameras. After analysing the cameras and taking the opinion of bike mechanics, police identified the bike as a Honda Shine. “Although the rider masked his face with a helmet we got an image of the pillion rider. The pillion rider has a thumb size mole just below his right eye with hair on it. He is fair in colour,” the ACP said. CCTVs revealed the duo came towards KPHB and Kukatpally from Chanda-nagar and later they went towards Chandanagar again. The police set up teams to catch the duo the public to help them, Madhapur DCP N. Vishwa Prasad announced a cash award of Rs 10,000 to anyone who can give information about the snatchers.
