Bengaluru: Man held for raping tenant's daughter

Incident came to light only after the girl gave birth to a baby.Accused booked under POCSO Act.

Bengaluru: A 23-year-old man was arrested for allegedly raping his tenant’s minor daughter in Konaganabele village in Channarayapatna in Devanahalli taluk.The accused has been identified as Devaraj, alias David, a house-keeping staff at the Kempegowda International Airport, who has been booked under the POCSO Act.

According to the police, the accused was in a physical relationship with the 13-year-old girl, a class seven student at a government school, for one-and-half years. The incident came to light only after the girl gave birth to a baby on Wednesday.

She was taken to a hospital after she complained of severe stomach ache. It is learnt that the accused and the victim got acquainted a few months after he rented his house to her parents.

After that, the duo started to meet outside and later Devaraj used to take the victim to isolated places for physical relationship. Devaraj also used to meet the girl at her house when her mother, a daily wage worker, was away at work. Meanwhile, the victim is recovering at the hospital after her delivery. Based on her statement, accused Devaraj has been arrested and booked under POCSO Act.

62-yr-old molests minor
In another case, Kamakshipalya police have arrested a sexagenarian man for allegedly molesting a minor girl and booked him under POCSO Act. The accused has been identified as a Muni Narayanappa (62), a retired bank employee and a resident of AK Colony in Kamakshipalya, who according to police was molesting a 7-year-old girl residing in his neighborhood. The police said that the accused was molesting the girl for a long time, but the incident came to light only on April 4, when the victim’s mother enquired about the bite marks on her body.

The victim, who was initially hesitant, narrated the incident and named Narayanappa saying he was sexually abusing her. The mother then approached the Kamakshipalya police and registered a complaint.
