Bengaluru: Techie held for bid to sell Turkish currency
BENGALURU: A techie has been arrested by the RMC Yard police for trying to sell demonetized high value Turkish currency in the city. They seized 100 such notes, worth more than Rs 170 crore. The accused has been identified as Deepesh, 35, a resident of HSR Layout and a native of Mysuru. He was working as a software engineer at a private company in Bellandur.
According to the police, on December 22, he received the Turkish money from a person named Paruk in Shivajinagar, who offered him a good commission to sell the currency. Since then he has been trying to befriend shopkeepers near Yeshwantpur and sell them the currency. He told them it was worth '200 crore and was offering them for only '30 lakh.Based on a tip off, the RMC Yard police approached him posing as buyers. They soon arrested him and seized the currency. The RMC Yard police are on lookout for Paruk.
