Hyderabad: A city court in Hyderabad on Saturday convicted a 45-year-old security guard to life for killing his two children four years ago. Polepally Ruben, who had fought with his wife suspecting her fidelity, had strangled his son and daughter in his house at Natarajnagar.
After a series of hearings, the fifth MSJ court at Nampally, sentenced Ruben to rigorous life imprisonment and a fine of Rs 1,000. The Sanjeev Reddy nagar police had booked a case against him for murder and domestic abuse.
Police had found the bodies of his daughter, P. Rachel, 12, and son, Teja, 7, in the house. “Ruben had started quarrelling frequently after she suspected her fidelity. He began doubting her when he saw her speaking on the phone for long hours. On February 24, 2012, his wife left for Nalgonda to attend a family function. Next day at around 3 am he strangled both his kids with the cable of a cellphone charger,” said additional inspector, R.M. Ram Mohan Rao. After the murder Ruben himself called his wife and told her about his act. Following a complaint from his wife police booked a case and arrested him.
