Student Dies by Suicide Over App Game Addiction
Hyderabad: A 21-year-old degree second year student died by suicide at his flat in Yellareddyguda, police said on Saturday. They said the victim, P. Akhil, was unable to overcome his addiction to the PUB-G game.
The case came into light on Friday when victim’s mother P. Jaya, 35, lodged a complaint with Panjagutta police stating that her son had informed her on January 4 that he was going to Srinagar Colony to meet his friend, police said.
Later that night, Jaya received a message from Akhil stating: "Bye mummy. Love you. Jagratha (take care).” Jaya rushed to the apartment and found the main door locked from inside. She broke open the door with the help of neighbours, entered the flat and found his body.
He was rushed to the NIMS hospital where the doctors declared Akhil dead. As Jaya was in a state of shock, police recorded her statement on January 5.
Akhil’s father P. Vishwanath had passed away due to ill-health in 2018. Jaya said Akhil had not been going to college for three months. Police registered a case of death under suspicious circumstances and began investigations.
