Anantapur: Madakasira mandal education officer (MEO), Menati Srinivasulu, was arrested on Sunday for cheating unemployed youths after handing them fake job letters in the gram sachivalayam.
Srinivasulu and two others are accused of forming a gang and cheating unemployed youths in 2021.
The arrest was made by Thamballapalle Police, where the case was registered in February 2021 based on a complaint by the mandal parishad development officer of Thamballapalle.
One of the victims gave details on the scam to the police.
After his arrest, Srinivasulu claimed he was a close relative of a senior minister from Rayalaseema, sources said.
