‘Insane’ woman dragged and thrown out of temple in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: An unsound woman, the police say, was thrown out Sri Lakshmi Narayana Temple by one of the Trust members by pulling her hair and dragged her out of the temple at Amruthahalli on December 21 before the video clippings of the incident went viral.
According to police, the woman identified as Hemavathi, a resident of Amruthahalli, entered the Temple and reportedly she insisted to enter the sanctum sanctorum of the Temple and sit next to the deity.
When the priests objected to her, the woman is said to have spit on him and created ruckus at the temple premises and the matter was brought to the notice of Trust member Munivenkatappa.
The Trust member Munikrishna reportedly asked the woman to leave the Temple collecting prasada. But, the woman reportedly did not pay attention to the words of Munikrishna and in a fit of rage Munivenkatappa dragged her hair and threw her out of the Temple. Munikrishna also tried to assault the woman. Three members inside the Temple remained mute spectators to the incident.
A case has been registered at Amruthahalli police station but no arrests have been made so far by the police. Repeated phone calls to Munikrishnappa went unanswered.
