12 men nabbed for betting, Rs 1.87 lakh cash, mobile seized

Hyderabad: The North Zone Task Force police busted a gaming racket being operated in Bolaram and nabbed 12 persons. Officials also seized Rs 1.87 lakh cash, 13 mobile phones and a cards games set from them.

The 12 men were identified as Paderu Darmesh, 50, the organiser, Bomavaram Vishnu Prasad, 35, Kaleru Anush, 30, Poterla Tirupathi, 43, Tukuntla Sampath Rao, 35, Salvar Satyanarayana, 49, Mandala Vishveshwar Rao, 44, Taraka Sunil, 43, Karme Umakanth, 34, Jangampalli Prashanth, 32 and Paderu Sandeep, 26.

“Paderu Darmesh is a driver by profession and has a habit of playing card games by betting money. As his earnings were not sufficient to lead a lavish life, he hatched a plan to run a gaming house by inviting punters. He has been organising gambling at his house at Kalsiguda for the past few days. Darmesh collects '500 from each punter as an entry fee and allows them to play the game and money illegally,” said DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force, P. Radhakrishna Rao.

On Saturday night, while Darmesh and eleven other punters were playing the card game, the North Zone team acting on a tip-off conducted a raid on his house and apprehended 12 men. The accused were handed over to Bolaram police.
