Indira Canteen staffer alleges sexual harassment
Bengaluru: A woman staffer of an Indira Canteen in Bandepalya has lodged a complaint with the local police that her supervisor was sexually harassing her.
The 35-year-old victim, a resident of Ambedkar Nagar in Bandepalya, has complained that Indira Canteen supervisor Satish, an ex-army man, was indulging in her character assassination by spreading rumours that she had illicit affairs with many men and seeking sexual favours from her. When she and her husband warned Satish, he started sexually harassing her at work and used abusive language, she has complained.
The victim joined as a cashier at Indira Canteen six months ago, while Satish is said to be in charge of 15 Indira Canteens in the Bommanahalli constituency, the police said.
The victim alleged that Satish called her on her mobile phone at night and sought sexual favours. He allegedly also warned her if she did not agree, he would tell others about her ‘illicit affairs’. The Bandepalya police who registered the complaint summoned Satish and recorded his statement.
Satish reportedly told the police that the woman was involved in financial misappropriation and gave false accounts. Satish claimed that he has submitted a report to the authorities about her irregularities and was waiting for disciplinary action against her. “To avenge this, she has foisted a false complaint,” Satish told the police.
