Narcotics Sniffer Dogs Smell Out Ganja at Vizag Railway Station
Visakhapatnam: Special sniffer dogs trained in smelling out narcotics deployed at Visakhapatnam railway station have helped seize 12 kilograms of cannabis on the very first day of their deployment.
The operation, carried out by Railway Protection Force (RPF) in collaboration with Taskforce Visakhapatnam, marks a crucial milestone in the state’s fight against narcotics.
The initiative to deploy sniffer dogs had been spearheaded by senior divisional security commissioner Raghuveer under the guidance of Vizag commissioner of police and principal chief security commissioner, RPF, East Coast Railway.
On December 2, the narcotics-trained sniffer dog Vicky played a pivotal role in detecting two backpacks containing approximately six kilograms of ganja each.
Vicky helped head constable Safiq Mohammad and K.S. Patra zero onto carriers of the narcotic when they got down from train number 08552 express at 20:55 hours on platform 6&7.
Following interrogation, the culprits admitted to purchasing ganja and boarding the train to reach Visakhapatnam.
