Bengaluru: Chain-snatcher's 3 aides held

The police have recovered gold and silver articles worth Rs 29 lakh from them.

Bengaluru: Kengeri police have arrested three associates of notorious chain snatcher Achuth Kumar alias Gani, who was involved in as many as 105 chain snatching cases in the city, and have solved 21 cases in the city.

The police have recovered gold and silver articles worth Rs 29 lakh from them.

The accused have been identified as Shivaraj Rudraiah Heremat, 29, Sunil, 24 and Anil, 22, all hailing from Gadag. The police had in June arrested Gani, while his associate Shivaraj has been on the run.

Kengeri police had formed a special team to trace his associate, Shivaraj. The team tracked him down and based on the information shared by him, the police arrested Sunil and Anil, who helped him to sell the stolen jewellery.

According to the police, with their arrest, they have solved cases of theft, robbery, house theft and chain snatching.

Shivaraj was previously arrested by Hubballi police for his involvement in 11 cases of theft and robbery. The court had issued a warrant against him after he failed to appear for court proceedings. A total of 48 cases have been registered against him.

Kengeri police have registered a case and have recovered 937 grams of gold ornaments, 2.5 kg of silver articles, totally worth Rs 29.11 lakh.
