Kerala: Tamil Nadu native women held for theft

The cops suspect similar gangs to be active in different parts of the state.

KOCHI: The Angamaly Police on Tuesday busted an interstate gang of women indulged in chain snatching when they arrested two Tamil Nadu natives. According to cops, Mahassiya (34) and Sathyapriya, both natives of Erode, used to board heavily-packed transport buses to commit the crime.

“They attempted to snatch gold chain of a woman commuter who was travelling from Angamaly to Ernakulam in a KSRTC Fast Passenger bus. However, the Ayyampuzha native caught them in the act. When she gave a hue and cry, the duo got down from the bus and caught an auto in their attempt to flee. However, we managed to trace the vehicle and arrest them,” police said. The cops suspect similar gangs to be active in different parts of the state. “They target women passenger in heavily crowded buses,” police added.
