Hyderabad: Two minor girls were allegedly drugged and raped by two of their neighbours in Madannapet. The victims, aged — 15-year-old girl — 13-year-old girl, are siblings.
The suspects lured the girls, took them to their house and gave them cool drinks laced with drugs before raping them, the mother of the victims alleged. After the rape, the suspects, Md. Afzal, 22 and Hannan, 22, went to the house of the girls the same day and threatened the family with dire consequences if they went to the police.
Girls lured when mom was away
Following a complaint from the mother of the victims, Madannapet police has started an investigation. The suspects are absconding.
Afzal, who lives near the house of the victims, had been talking to one of the girls for the past few months. His friend Hannan used to visit his house and stalked the other victim.
“When their mother was not at home, Afzal lured the girls and invited them to his house. They went to his house just to talk. After some time, they were given some cool drinks and they felt dizzy. The sexual assault happened afterwards,” said an aunt of the victims.
The father of the girls had passed away a few years ago and they are taken care of by their mother, who works in nearby houses. “Both are high school students and they did not know the danger they were getting into. Afzal had promised to marry one girl and that’s how he could lure her,” said the relative.
Both suspects work in Mandi at Madannapet. Madannapet police, who received the complaint, sent the girl for medical examination. A special team has recorded the testimony of the victims. “We have booked a case under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and for rape,,” said Madannapet inspector K.P.V. Raju.
