Bengaluru: Con woman tries to dupe Supreme Court lawyer on Facebook, caught

Bengaluru: The Pulikeshinagar police with the help of a senior lawyer with Supreme Court arrested a 25-year-old seasoned con woman who had cheated over 200 people all over the country. She ran out of luck when she tried to con a city based lawyer.

Police said the accused has been identified as Kushbu Sharma, hailing from Jaipur. She was living at a paying guest accommodation in Indiranagar. In order to dupe people she had posed as an IAS officer, IPS officer, a celebrity and finally as a lawyer, when she got caught.

Sanket Yenagi, a senior lawyer with Supreme Court was initially duped of Rs 2 lakh when the accused offered to provide him commercial space at UB City.

Investigations revealed that Kushbu, who is also physically challenged, posed as a Supreme Court lawyer, and promised Yenagi commercial space in UB towers on a sharing basis and cheated him.

The police said, “Kushbu got in touch with the advocate recently and asked him to take her as his junior. He said to have agreed. She claimed she was the daughter of a retired IAS officer and had a commercial space in UB towers and offered to let out to him on rent. The deal was done as the rent was fixed in percentage of the profit that advocate will get from his work. On October 28, to complete the formalities Yenagi and Kushbu went to court in his car. As Sanket wanted to meet somebody, he asked her to stay back in the car and left.

But Kushbu made away with Rs 2 lakh. On learning that he has been duped, Yenagi filed a complaint with Pulakeshinagar police.

During the investigation, the police tracked Kushbu near Chittorgarh in Rajasthan, but couldn’t gather much information as she had switched off her phone. But on Oct 29 she made a call asking him to pay more money.

Yenagi asked her to come near his office in Frazer town and alerted the police. As planned, when Kushbu came to collect the cash, the police arrested her and took her for questioning.
